The event will share the experience of developing the Child Labour Free Zone system in Ghana through multi-stakeholder collaboration. This side event intends to facilitate learning and discussion on the possibilities of the area-based approach as a solution to eliminating child labour, particularly in countries where child labor is prevalent in agriculture.

This side event introduces the Child Labour Free Zone system in Ghana, the government-led initiative addressing child labor systematically with an integrated area-based approach. The Protocols and Guidelines for Establishing Child Labour Free Zones developed by the government through multi-stakeholder processes has been tested in two districts of cocoa-growing areas in the JICA supported pilot
activities.
