Senior Deputy Director Law and Justice Team, Governance Group Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

Chigiru Yamashita is the Senior Deputy Director of JICA’s Law and Justice Team in charge of the governance sector including development issues related to business and human rights. He has managed the Child Labour Free Zone Project implemented in collaboration with the Ghanaian Government, and been engaged in the launch of the Japanese Sustainable Cocoa Platform, a multi-stakeholder partnership aiming at realizing a sustainable cocoa industry. He began his career with JICA in 2004, and has since been engaged in planning, implementation management, and evaluation of development cooperation projects in various sectors around the world for nearly 20 years.
