Setting the scene

Setting the scene

Plenary session
15 May
-
Main stage

Target 8.7 of the Sustainable Development Goals calls on the global community to end child labour in all its forms by 2025, just three and half years from today.  This first "setting the scene" charts how far we have come and how far we must still travel to honour this commitment to ending child labour.

Conducted in a Q&A format, the session will involve a free-ranging discussion of the child labour situation in the world today, how it has changed over time and what must be done to arrive at our ambitious 2025 target.

The session will serve to introduce some of the key themes to be taken up in more detail in the subsequent conference deliberations – the key challenges to future progress, the broad policy priorities for addressing them, and how the implementation of these policy priorities can be financed.
