Danny Burns

Director of the CLARISSA programme

Danny Burns is a professor at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex in the UK. He is Director of the CLARISSA programme. CLARISSA is a large-scale participatory action research programme in Nepal and Bangladesh which focuses on understanding and innovating solutions to Worst forms of Child Labour. Danny’s career has been focused on building participatory methods which can work across large systems. Recent books include “Navigating Complexity in International Development” (2015) with Stuart Worsley, and “The Sage Handbook of Participatory Research and Inquiry” (2021) co-edited with Jo Howard and Sonia Ospina.
