Mr. Yitna Getachew is the Head of the Protection Division at the International Organization for Migration (IOM) based at the Headquarters in Geneva. Yitna has been with IOM for close to twenty years mostly working on migrant protection issues including counter trafficking and child protection. He has served in various capacities at different duty stations including Afghanistan, Zambia, South Africa and Egypt. Yitna is originally from Ethiopia. He holds a Master’s in Law (LLM) degree from the Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
The panel aims to understand and shed light on the complex root causes of child labour and its consequences in terms of perpetuating the cycle of poverty and situations of child labour.
